Friends of Forest of Galtres

Welcome to the Friends of Forest of Galtres area!

Together we organise events and activities that raise extra funds for the school which in turn helps to enhance the school environment and improve learning resources. Everyone is welcome to join us and we would be delighted to see you at any of our meetings.

The committee is made up of both parents/carers of pupils including two teacher representatives. The teachers do a fantastic job of liaising our suggestions and proposals with the school and feeding back any support the school would like from the Friends to fund different initiatives in school.

Over the years we have raised money to help provide chrome books for in class learning, musical instruments, school trips, library software, craft activities and ‘exciting goodies’ such as Easter eggs for treasure hunts, leavers’ gifts and Christmas books for all children.

We spend time as a committee generating fundraising ideas and events that we can either hold at school or at alternative venues. Our current Wine and Cheese tasting evenings have been very popular as have quizzes, jumper days, raffles etc. We are also very active in encouraging relationships with the local community and like to join up with St Catherine’s nursing home in encouraging the children to paint pictures or write letters to residents and are so grateful to the ongoing support of parents for supporting the Easingwold Food Bank which we coordinate the collection of food.

We are always looking for new people to join Friends and help in any way they can. If you feel you are in a position to contribute in whatever means we would love to hear from you. We are also very grateful for help at events, hearing about your own fundraising success stories or hosting your own event.

Along with our committee members we also have ‘Friends of FOG supporters’. Parents who want to commit but maybe want to solely help out at events etc. which is a fabulous help!

We meet once every half term and if it’s not at school then we have a virtual meeting via Zoom.

We are delighted to have a facebook page (Friends of Forest of Galtres Primary School) along with a new email address (friends@fog.hlt.academy) so please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We couldn’t do any of the above without the tremendous support from parents, families and local businesses. All money raised goes back into the school for the children and every penny makes a difference.

We look forward to hearing from you
